Blessed Beltane !!!

It's time to celebrate as the seasons are rotating swiftly!!

Beltane is the celebration that takes place on May 1st, which is about half way between Spring equinox and Summer solstice.

Have you already noticed the warmer weather?

As we witness the transition from Spring drawing closer to a close... and as we get ready to enter into the 1st signs of Summer, you will notice the days growing longer, and I say ...

Blessed Beltane to YOU!!

It's all about celebrating fire, fertility, and abundance!

This is a time to tap into the fire element to celebrate the coming of summer. Fire is known for it's ability to purify things, it's a way to cleanse and revitalize. Fire represents the return of the light as the days grow longer and summer begins it's journey on earth.

In many parts of the world, people who celebrate Beltane will gather and leap over the Beltane Fire to connect their mind, body and spirit. Couples will jump over the bon fire together to bless their union and ensure fertility. Leaping over the fire also is said to bring good fortune, fertility and happiness as the year carries onward.

Another way we celebrate Beltane is something you probably have heard before... the May Pole.

People have danced around the May Pole for centuries. It is a symbolic way to show the union between the Goddess (Female) and God (Male), creating a sacred circle of abundance. It symbolized the union of the Feminine and Masculine which is the major theme on May Day/Beltane.

The pole is usually a young cut tree which symbolized the masculine quality. During the festival, people would weave ribbons and foliage around the pole, symbolizing the feminine qualities... thus joining the two together.

Not everyone is going to have the opportunity to jump over the Beltane Fire, or even dance around the May Pole.....

so here are some other

Ways you can celebrate Beltane!!

Get Crafty

I made this little wind catcher to help celebrate, I used branches from my backyard tree.. hemp rope and ribbons. Each ribbon is related to a Chakra, but it serves as a dual purpose, the colors also correspond with some magick!!

You can use the info. below to put together your own ribbon spell on your tree.

Ribbon Spells

Basically you would use the color that corresponds with what your trying to achieve from the list below. Next, write your intentions on the ribbon and tie it on the tree. As the wind blows, it will send your intentions out into the Universe.

When you tie the knot, it's the magick that fixes your spells and focuses your intent. You can add some extra magick into your spell by anointing your ribbons with essential oils that match your intent. By using the color that corresponds with your intention below it will enhance your spell.

Handfasting

As Beltane is the uniting of the Goddess & God, it's a popular time for Handfastings....

aka Pagan Weddings.

Now this might not be for everyone, but I wanted to include this as it's closely related to Beltane.

The tradition of betrothal (engagement) happens between the couple for a year and a day.

Without the legality of a marriage the couple still commits themselves for that time.

After that time, the couple would choose to either stay together or part without any shame drama added! No strings attached!!

Of course this marriage is not legally binding.

However, I have done weddings for couples who want this tradition of hand fasting in their ceremonies!

When I officiate these ceremonies, I do all the normal legal marriage things I have to do and say... and then we add this in as an element during the ceremony.

Handfastings are very unique and usually include elements, and of course an exchange of some sort (rings, token, necklace) whatever the couple would like.

The act of hand fasting involves the hands of the couple. What I do is I tie their hands together with a cord, rope or ribbon. Have you ever heard the saying... "tying the knot".

Yep, that is where the expression comes from!

When my couples are ready to remove the cord, I have them pull in a certain way so they form an infinity symbol, as a symbol that their love and commitment towards each other. That their commitment and love is for eternity and beyond!

If you are wanting a Handfasting whether it be a traditional Pagan (not a legal marriage) or you are getting legally married and would like to incorporate this into your ceremony...

Beltane Treats

One thing I really enjoying doing is baking!! Especially as the wheels shift! It's a great way to celebrate and share with others!

During Beltane some of the food items that are related are honey and oats, vanilla, strawberries, figs and pineapple.

With this in mind, I crafted some Oatmeal Lace Cookies!!

Oh my yumminess, these are dangerously good!!

If you'd like to try the recipe I made CLICK HERE.

The only things I changed in the recipe is I did mine with dark brown sugar (thus the darker coloring).

I wanted that rich butterscotch taste, which I did achieve!

Another thing to note, make sure you use real butter for this for the best taste!

While making them think of the abundance surrounding you, how grateful you are during this time. Share them with your friends or family. For an extra bonus...leave a little bit of them out for the fay (fairy friends) as they are out and about during this time too.

Divination

Beltane is the opposite on the Wheel of the Year... with Samhain as it's opposite.

Thus, the veil between the physical world and spiritual world is just as thin during this time as it is during Samhain. This allows us to connect more easily with Spirit.

With that being said, it's a great time for divination type work.

Different divination you can do is...

  • Tarot

  • Spell work

  • Dosing (working with pendulums)

  • Scrying (working with Crystal balls)

  • Connecting with Spirit Guides or transitioned loved ones

However you decide to spend your Beltane... enjoy it!!

Be happy and grateful for all the abundance you have in your life. Be happy for your health, your home, and Gaia.

Blessed Beltane to you!!

Sending you...

Light, Loves & Lunar Hugs,
